Concern

Solution

1. Space saving: Taking up about 1/8th of the actual space in (cubic feet) of a standard tank type of water heater. 1. Additional installation costs: These tend to be four times as much as standard water heaters. These costs are immediately offset by a $300 tax credit, plus estimated annual savings that will usually result in full payback of additional installation costs within 5 years. After the break-even point in 5 years, the heater will then continue to result in additional savings via gas and maintenance costs of $5,280 over the course of its life.  Increased installation costs are often immediately fully compensated for by a corresponding property appreciation that often exceeds additional installation costs.  There is also an estimated $2,580 savings, when compared to the installation and operation cost of a standard water heater, after the first 15 years of use.  Total estimated savings resulting from a Takagi installation, over the course of its 30 year typical lifetime is a net $5,280.00 savings!!!
2. Energy saving: Using up to 2/3rd’s less gas by eliminating both a standing pilot, and a reservoir of hot water that must be constantly heated. Associated energy savings generally enable payback for additional installations costs in 8 to 10 years.
3. Double to Triple life span: Lasting an average of 30 years, approximately two to three times the service life of a standard tank type of water heater.
4. Endless hot water: Never running out of hot water, no matter how many back to back showers may be taken. 2. Thirty second additional wait time: Wait time for hot water is increased by approx. 30 seconds. When this small additional wait time is balanced against the value of never running out of hot water while showering, customers usually are willing to make the trade. Still, it is a good practice to advise prospective customers of this small additional wait time before making a sale.
5. Tax credit: A $300 federal tax credit is offered to anyone who installs one of these. 3. Hot water 'trickling to be avoided: Very slow hot water flow rates under .5 gpm will not trigger the unit into action, and will not result in hot water production. This aspect of tankless water heaters is only experienced by a small percentage of people who like to run a very small trickle of hot water.  Again, most users view this minor disadvantage as well worth the benefit gained by never running out of hot water.
6. Property value appreciation: Realtors have found that these water heaters generally pay for themselves in associated appreciation of property values.
7. Best solution for extra large tubs: Rather than installing two or three standard water heaters in series, a single Takagi water heater is capable of easily filling any extra large tub, jacuzzi or spa.
