Why are Plumbing Permits Important?
Plumbing and mechanical permits and inspections are important because the protect all parties from unnecessary risk and liability. Per state law we are required to apply for and obtain a plumbing or mechanical permit when we replace a water heater.
Any licensed plumbing or mechanical contractor in the state of Michigan knows this. If you’re contractor tells you that you don’t need a permit for your water heater, you have got to wonder what kind of corner do they plan on cutting that would make them reluctant to get the permit. Most water heaters in our area are gas fired appliances that must properly exhaust combustion gases from the water heater to the outdoors. Would you really want to take any chances with that? When Washtenaw Plumbing and Heating installs your water heater, we are going to everything by the book plus some. But don’t just take our word for it. You will know it when an impartial 3rd party municipal inspector approves our work.
